After a successful pilot of our “Holiday Harvest” program, we sought out some additional funding to make it a regular part of people’s lives in Rowan County.
We will continue to work with the five partners who assisted us with – St. John’s Lutheran Church, the St. John’s Child Development Center and Head Start – will help us identify families that need a little extra help this year.
Each box will contain about two weeks worth of local greens, sweet potatoes, winter squash and NC apples. Bear Branch Milling has donated an additional 50 pounds of NC grown black eyed peas to help folks start the new year right.
We’re betting that our community will want to help support this effort. If you can spare $10, that’s about enough to sponsor a family for this program. So far, Winter Harvest subscribers have contributed over $100 towards the Holiday Harvest, but the program will cost over $500, so we’re hoping to raise at least that much. If we raise a little extra we hope to do this again for Easter!
