What do people say about Winter Harvest?

We have participated in Winter Harvest since its second year. When Bread Riot added home delivery I was overjoyed. In looking back, I believe that 2018-2019 was the best year yet! In addition to beautiful fresh kale, spinach, collards, winter squashes, each week we received fresh lettuce, cucumbers, eggs and always a special treat. Bread is a luxury food in our home, so we chose to not receive loaf bread, but we enjoyed every treat from How Sweet It Is  and The Café at Better Loafing. I believe that for the small amount Bread Riot charges to keep a nice variety of fresh vegetables in our home is a healthy benefit. During the second week, when the hydrator just can’t keep up with wilt, I learned that rinsing the vegetables in cold water and setting them in a pot for a few hours everything, even spinach perks up. Bread Riot provides great recipe ideas for the items I am less familiar with or just need a new perspective on how to prepare them. Thanks Bread Riot for providing this chance to have farm fresh veggies and local products in my kitchen and in my diet. Sue and Bill Davis

I’ve participated in Winter Harvest from its beginning and this past year was a continuation of great and varied food stuff. In addition to the expected winter produce, pumpkins, squash etc., there was a good variety of greens from collards to tender lettuces. Fresh bakery products, eggs and goodies like local honey & butter helped fill the overflowing boxes. And always the sources of the foods were identified so I felt connected to the local farmers or other producers of the foods.  Gavine P.

We were always pleasantly surprised by the variety and freshness of produce. The quality was high, too. And in just the right amounts for us. Some of the contents were a bit puzzling to this west coast transplant, but this year I’m looking forward to those large squashes!  Kathy
