Farmer Grants
Encouraging small farmers in Rowan County and helping them grow.
Bread Riot awards grants to local farmers and producers each year to encourage their endeavors.
The Next Step Grant is intended to help grow small farms and increase the variety of farm produce, meat and products available in Rowan County. Farmers are asked what the “next step” would be for their farm if they had the funding to pursue it. Ideas include sustainable farming practices, organic/chemical-free farming, developing a niche or specialty market, growing winter produce, selling at a farmers market or to the public in another way, or continuing their education toward a specific goal related to their farm. Funding from the grant ranges from $1,000-$5,000 and is awarded at the Salisbury Farmers Market in April or May.
Applications for 2025 grants will open in February.
