Barbee Farms

Barbee Farms is a family farm in Concord, North Carolina, that has been in continuous operation for more than 100 years. It currently consists of approximately 70 acres of fresh vegetables and fruit trees. While not certified organic, the farm practices many organic methods along with conventional methods.

Blue Goat Dairy

Blue Goat Dairy is a farm nestled in the hills of Vale, North Carolina. It is home to a multitude of goats, each of them part of the family. The owners, Becky and John Borland, make chèvre cheese in several flavors as well as tango and samba, which are a mixture of ingredients that you can serve as they are or incorporate into main dishes. Everything is made on-site with the freshest ingredients.

Church Creek Farm

This family farm in Salisbury started out as a small produce farm but has found its niche in specialty cut flowers. Jessica Shumaker Long is the farmer behind the flowers. After working in the medical field for 13 years, she moved to the flower field full time in 2021. She loves to educate and help others learn why supporting local is important.

Correll Farms

The Correll family has been farming on the same land since the late 1800s! David and Cheryl operate the farm today, and their children, Josie and Talton, are the 6th generation of Corrells to live on the land. They grow over 100 varieties of vegetables as well as potatoes, melons and tomatoes. And their flock of laying hens produces dozens of colorful and delicious eggs.

The farm offers home delivery produce baskets, operates at several farmers markets, and works with Freshlist to supply restaurants with local products.

Dew Drop Farm

Don Brown is a 4th generation Davie County farmer. He and his wife grow thousands of hydroponic tomatoes as well as lettuce and cucumbers in their greenhouses.

Visit their farm stand on Yadkinville Road in Mocksville to purchase their produce as well as other locally grown and produced items. Plus, they have beautiful flower baskets in the spring!

Dover Vineyards

This vineyard and un-certified organic farm is located in Concord. In addition to producing wine, they grow heirloom varieties of vegetables in the most natural way possible.

They offer a CSA Veggie Box with multiple pickup locations and have a farm stand beside the vineyard on Concord Parkway where they sell their produce as well as items from other local farms. Visit their website or Facebook page for upcoming events.

Downing Farms, LLC

Downing Farms, LLC is owned and operated by Jill and Tim Downing, veteran educators in the community. They started the farm in 2010 in order to provide fresh, local and sustainably grown food to the community. All the plants are grown without the use of chemical pesticides or herbicides, and the animals are naturally raised.

The Downings offer CSA baskets for spring or the entire growing season, or a “Summer Dream” option where you get to pick 10 weeks between Memorial Day and Labor Day. (You can work around your summer vacation!) Place an order online or visit their booth at the Salisbury Farmers Market or the Piedmont Farmers Market to get fresh vegetables and herbs, duck and chicken eggs, and frozen chicken.

Elium Farm

Randy and Pam Elium have lived and farmed on their farm since 1974.  Meeting at Catawba in the early 70’s, they took over the property that Randy’s father had used as a cattle farm.  Their first strawberry crop was in 1978, and they have been farming strawberries ever since!  They now grow a variety of produce including blueberries (late June), potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, peppers, green beans, and tomatoes. They also plan on adding blackberry bushes soon. Randy is also a member of the Rowan County Beekeepers Association and has 13 hives on the property.

Farmer’s Daughter Organics

Located in Mt. Ulla, this family-owned market garden is focused on providing a variety of organically grown produce to local residents. Jason and Brittany Chester started Farmer’s Daughter Organics in 2013 and now grow more than 35 types of produce throughout the year. They are working toward organic certification and making structural improvements to extend their growing season.

Hoffner Organic Farms

Hoffner Organic Farms is a family operated Certified Organic Dairy located in rural Mt. Ulla.  Chris Hoffner, his wife Tara, and their two children, Ansley and Owen live and work on this family farm.  They are one of the first dairies in NC to become certified organic. In addition to being a dairy farm, they also offer organic beef and will be adding produce to their farm this summer.  Organic hay and straw is also grown on the farm.

The farm is certified organic and sells its milk to Organic Valley.  They use absolutely no pesticides, fertilizers, or anything else that may harm the pastures and affect the quality of the milk.  Beef from this farm can be purchased from Evans Farms, Patterson’s farm stand, West Rowan Farm and Garden, and McCloud Organics.  

Jones Family Acres

This family-operated farm is producing quality meats using sustainable, humane practices in rural Salisbury. Originally from southeastern Wisconsin, Jerrad and Sara Jones moved their family to Rowan County in 2021 to pursue their dream of a farm business—and warmer weather. They raise grass-fed Highland and Hereford cattle, pastured Berkshire and heritage hogs, and pastured poultry.

The farm offers individual cuts, meat bundles, subscription boxes and animal shares. Visit their booth at the Salisbury Farmers Market, follow them on social media, or check out their online store.

Miller Farms

Mike and his brother, Robert are 3rd generation farmers on what used to be a family dairy farm. Their farm is a 300 acre farm with about 30 acres being used for produce! They still have about 30 head of beef cattle as well.

Miller Farms grows corn, strawberries, cantaloupe, beans, peas, okra, wheat, and soybeans. They grow 3 varieties of strawberries: Chandler, Albion, and Camarosa. Did you know that they plant the strawberry plants in the fall? Mid-September to be exact.

You will see Mike and his wife, Melinda at the Salisbury Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, but if you venture to Lexington, you will see his son, Adam, or head to Cabarrus, you will see his brother, Robert.

Seven Sisters Farm

Janice, her husband Michael, and their three sons work on a twenty-five acre farm, with about seven acres actually planted with crops. Michael was the local Cooperative Extension agricultural agent for Rowan County, but has returned to the farm full time.

They have a spring-summer CSA and a summer-fall CSA. If you are interested-send Janice a an email, reach out through their website, or take a drive out there. You can also find them Saturday mornings at two Charlotte farmer’s markets: The Uptown Farmer’s Market and the Southend Farmer’s Market. You can follow them on Facebook as well.

Twin Oaks Farms/

Frank Patterson Farm

Twin Oak Farms/Frank Patterson Farm has been a working farm since 1921. The Patterson family ran the farm all the way up until 1996. Tim Sloop and his cousin Greg started working for the Pattersons in 1977. They took over the farm in 1996. They have been working on the farm for the last 43 years! They farm 60 acres, with 8 greenhouses.

Growing everything they sell, the farm offers a variety of produce and plants throughout the season, including strawberries, blueberries, peaches, cantaloupes, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, to name a few. They offer their produce at the Davidson and Salisbury Farmer’s Markets. Some of their produce goes to wholesale markets and buyers who sell it at Charlotte area markets.

Spring Lake Family Farm

Spring Lake Family Farms is a family owned business, located in Albemarle North Carolina, which uses Aquaponics as the primary growing method. Their mission is to provide local communities with natural produce at affordable prices, to provide customers with excellent service, and educate everyone on the benefits of sustainable farming.

Spring Lake offers hydroponic lettuce and micro greens and now has an on-site store offering locally sourced produce, meats, cheeses, grits, baked goods, and many more. Check out details on Facebook for store hours.

Two Pigs Farm

Two Pigs Farm is located in rural Cleveland. Chase and Yorke Reynolds put aside their sibling rivalry to put their vision of food, farming and sustainability into action. All of the animals are pasture raised, and the vegetables and fruits are organically grown.

They offer various cuts of pork, beef, lamb and chicken, free-range eggs, fresh produce, homemade dog treats and alpaca products at the Salisbury Farmers Market and the Davidson Farmers Market.
