Bread Riot Presents Grant to Second Local FFA Program

The West Rowan Middle School FFA chapter plans to use the funding to benefit their animals, which will be entered into competitions here in Rowan County.

As part of Bread Riot's mission to promote farming in our community, we have begun awarding grants up to $500 to support Future Farmers of America projects in local schools. Recently, our board members visited the second of two Rowan County schools selected to receive a grant from Bread Riot in 2024.

The West Rowan Middle School FFA program plans to use the funding to benefit their goats, rabbits and chickens, which will be entered into competitions here in Rowan County. Bread Riot board members presented the grant to agriculture teacher Eva Ray and members of the school's FFA chapter. Jason Chester, regional agricultural education coordinator from NC State, joined the group for a tour.

The students were excited about being part of FFA and were engaged and thoughtful about their futures. One student who was not able to be at the presentation even sent along a sweet note about donating to their group.

It is a pleasure for our nonprofit organization to be connecting with youngsters so proactively.
