Summer Volunteer Opportunities: Want to Help?

Volunteers for the Summer Produce Program pick up fruits and vegetables from farms and help distribute them at meal sites.

Join our volunteer team for the Summer Produce Program, June 6 through July 28, 2022.

There are several ways you can help out!

Farm Pickups: We need pickups on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Pick up produce and meet up with our volunteers at summer produce distribution sites. Times vary, but farm pickups usually occur between 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Produce Distribution: On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, we visit two sites around lunchtime and set up a produce table for residents in the area to “shop.” We visit some senior lunch sites and also coordinate with Rowan-Salisbury Schools to set up at the same time they are passing out lunches. Times vary; lunch sites can be as early as 10:45 a.m.. We stay at the first lunch site for 20 to 30 minutes and then travel to the second site for the same amount of time.  If we are following the Yum Yum bus, the visit is for 30 minutes for each stop.

We run on an “A” week and “B” week schedule. “A” weeks we will visit a set of sites and “B” weeks we will visit a different set of sites. We are hoping to get enough volunteers to coordinate their own day/location. (Example: A week Tuesdays) We can work around your vacation schedule!

Contact us to sign up or for more information. Locations and times should be finalized by May 25, 2022.
